Photo Flashback

This photo was taken in June 2008. Elizabeth is 9+ months pregnant and Meredith and I are almost 7 months pregnant. Kent saw this picture and pointed out me and Mrs. Elizabeth and Mrs. Meredith. I told him that there was something different about us and asked him what we all had in common in this photo. His reply, "I don't know, you all have straight hair?"

Kent's Birthday

Yes, VERY, VERY late...

Kent had a fabulous fifth birthday. This year we had a joint birthday party with one of Kent's close friends, Lauren, at the Gymnastics Academy of Atlanta. It was the best party and I highly recommend it. Fun was had by all, children and adults alike.

The kids (and adults) had a great time jumping, tumbling, rolling, swinging and falling in the foam pit. Here are some of my favorite photos from the day.

This is the cake I made for Kent. I tried, a cake maker I am not. For the record, Kent wouldn't eat any, again. Cohen, however, quite enjoyed it. Thank you to Betty Crocker for now making a wheat, egg and milk free mix. Makes things a WHOLE lot easier, and somewhat tastier to my wheatafied taste buds.

All the kiddos enjoying the parachute.

I love this one of Pete's sister Misty (left) and our niece Cici (right). Fun for all ages!

Kent running towards the foam pit.

Cohen was not scared of the foam pit one bit (this means it was very scary for me!). He would just run right into it- over and OVER!!! Sometimes head first. He even did a flip. I really thought he was going to break his neck. Pete kinda camped out in there as Cohen would not do anything else, no matter how I tried to distract him. As soon as I looked the other way, he would take of running straight to the foam pit and jump in like it was a pool. Cohen = NO FEAR!

Happy Birthday Kent! You are such a great big brother and such a big boy. You are very helpful and considerate to everyone around you. Your laughter is infectious WE LOVE YOU!

Weddings 2009

We have been travelling off and on for the last three weeks, which explains the lack of updates. Hopefully I can get back on track and figure out the best way to report all of our adventures!

June was wedding month for us. Pete and I each had a friend get married and we had a lot of fun at both weddings. We were childless, thanks to my parents, and had two weekends in a row to ourselves! My friend Julie's wedding was first. Julie and I went to college at UGA together and we now teach art together everyday! The wedding was on a plantation in Conyers. Outside and in the evening, it was warm (100 degrees), but absolutely beautiful. You will all have to trust me on this because I did not take any pictures!!! Sorry Julie! I hate watching things happen through the screen on my camera, so I am a notoriously bad wedding picture taker. I danced very late into the evening with all of Julie's sorority sisters from college and Pete and I stayed up even later chatting with the other people staying in our cabin on the plantation. None of the other couples our age at the wedding besides us and the bride and groom were married. They were all quite amazed that we had been married for seven whole years and had two kids already....

The next weekend we headed up to North Carolina for our friends Chris and Emily's wedding. Pete has known Chris since high school and I have known him the entire time I have known Pete. Chris was a groomsman in our wedding and we were just so excited that he and Emily were finally getting married! We headed up a few days early as Pete was a groomsman. I decided to take pictures after my absentmindedness the week before. The wedding was at Lake Junaleska, a popular Methodist retreat. It was absolutely beautiful and I really think that we Baptists need to get with the program and create some type of organized retreat like this!!! We got to take part in all the pre wedding festivities, explore the downtown area, shop, and spend time with Chris' sweet family.

The little stone chapel where Chris and Emily got married. The stained glass was beautiful!

Chris is in the center, his older brother John (single!!!) to his right,

and then my handsome guy!

Emily wore her mother's veil.

We stopped to take a picture of the view on our way back to Georgia.

Lunch Buds

We went to "Donald's", as Kent calls it, with some special friends this week. This was an especially trying day, full of 4 year old tantrums and a strong will like I have never seen--ok well maybe I've seen it before in the mirror (as mom often reminds me and yes, I'm still apologizing).
Kent loves his friends Whit and Annie. Whit is one of his only boy-friends. There are a lot of girls around here! Kent just loves Annie to pieces, always asking if he can give her a hug.

These pictures were taken right before Kent set off the alarm (no, I am NOT kidding). I made Kent say "I'm sorry everyone" to EACH person we passed. We won't discuss what happened at Walmart after lunch. Let's just say that mommy was in such a hurry to get out of that store that she left her purchases behind and she was very grateful that no one in the crowd watching the spectacle called the police...

Those eyes!

Cohen had to get in on the action- such a munchkin!

Summertime!

Summertime is the best time! Here is a photo of some flowers that two of my favorite *!former!* seniors brought me during post planning. So pretty--lilies are my favorite! Thanks Macy and Emily!

Easter Pictures

After church every Easter we always go out to lunch with my family. We always have mexican food and take a picture. Pictures did not go as planned this year. Cohen was asleep and Kent was throwing a fit because he realized that he was going home and not back to Grandma and Grandpa's house. So, we ended up with a lovely picture of just me and the hubby. Happy Easter!

Easter Festivities

We went to an Easter festival at a nearby church with some friends. The weather had turned cool and extremely windy-definitely not spring like, but we enjoyed the day anyway. Kent had a blast on the "Easter Train", I think he would have been satisfied to have ridden the train continuously and done nothing else. Here we are with his good bud Lauren. They are about two weeks apart in age and have been friends since they were born.

The egg hunt was great! The best part was that there was no candy for me to take away from Kent inside the eggs- only fun prizes like pirate eye patches and small animal figures.

Kent wanted to get the eggs, but he wanted to play on the playground just a little bit more.

Kent is eating, yes I repeat, EATING his first snow cone. Kent's diet has always been so restricted that he's never really eaten any sweet foods and trying new things that are safe for him is kind of a struggle. He asked for blue cotton candy, but then wouldn't eat it (I didn't mind too much...more for me!) He then asked for a blue snow cone and to our surprise, he ate about half!

It was a pretty full afternoon. Kent jumped on the infatable carousel, brushed the animals at the petting zoo, made crafts, collected eggs, ate snow cones, and rode the train twice! Oh, Cohen was here too, but he slept the whole time and we had him bundled up in the stroller with the covers pulled closed and I never got a picture of him. Here's Kent on the train again, this time with Daddy.

Girls Nite Out

Overall we had a great spring break. I loved spending all week with the boys and between playing trains and changing diapers, I managed to get the taxes done (HUGE accomplishment). I even got to go out at the end of the week with some of my friends. Here are some photos of us from dinner as we closed down the restaurant...

Friends from the start!

Our very good friends Josh and Meredith had their third little girl the same day we had Cohen. It is always fun to be pregnant at the same time with one of your friends-sharing stories, comparing symptoms, showing up to places wearing almost the same outfit... We always joked about being in the hospital together, but me being due two weeks earlier- I mean what were the odds. God must laugh when we talk about "odds". I was shocked when Meredith called four days before my due date saying she was going in the next day to be induced. Well, Cohen got the message! About an hour later I started having contractions. We were admitted into the hospital about an hour and a half before the Joiners, but sweet Annie was bound and determined to win the race. She arrived forty minutes before Cohen. Not that Cohen didn't give it a good try- both babies arrived within 3 1/2 hours of getting to the delivery room!
